[While it's obvious he heard the replica, it's also pretty clear he just isn't interested in bothering. The look of pure contempt he shoots the silver-haired boy is enough evidence of that. He's got other things to do.

Like get this digimon out of his path.

It's amazingly difficult to intimidate Vanitas with a monster. He used to spawn monsters just by getting upset over something, if there's a creature that will phase him at all it's ... probably not going to be a digimon. He was afraid of things, enough to keep running for years, but that wasn't something like this. This he knew how to deal with.

The sudden evolution of something tiny to something very large only seems to draw the pause of reconsidering how to tackle his foe after the temporary victory of getting rid of it. There's only calculation and interest. Not a flicker of fear. Not from Vanitas, who seems completely undeterred.]

Good thing I'm not a digimon. I've been wanting a dragonskin coat.

[His partner on the other hand..

Well, Vanitas doesn't have a protective shell, or claws or sharp teeth. Humans just aren't designed to take the same level of abuse a digimon is, and the armadillomon knows it. It would have to be strong enough for the both of them, tough enough to protect someone who surely has no idea what he's even getting into.

Before Vanitas can take action, the now far smaller digimon hurtles at XV-mon, tucking up into a ball in the process; hopefully the sudden impact will divert her attention away from its squishy human partner and to someone who can actually handle the abuse.

Like itself. That's what friends do, isn't it? Vanitas didn't understand, but it did. Some things were worth fighting for.]
