Make Your Own Digivice!

All right folks, this is your all-purpose resource post and guide to making your own Digivice graphic, like this:

If you have Photoshop:
Here is the PSD.
Each color is on a separate layer. The layers aren't named but they should be obvious enough - the body color, button color, circle thing color and circuit/antenna color are each there. The lineart has its own layer too, as does the shading and details, which are at a low opacity to make this all work! (21% is what I used, I believe.) The screen color has its own layer too, should you also desire to tweak that.

To recolor the Digivice:

1) Select the layer you want to recolor, and lock the transparent pixels. This is usually a little checkerboard box at the top of your Layers dialog optiony boxy thing. (I win at terminology, guys.)

2) Pick the color you want for this portion of the Digivice. Remember that the shading layer will slightly dull the color, so you may have to experiment to get it just right.

3) Grab your brush tool, make sure you're not using a brush with a lot of feathering at the edges, and set its diameter to HUGE. It's often best to just use a size that can cover the entire image, though it may lag a bit when you do that.

4) Scribble all over the Digivice! As long as your transparent pixels are locked, the layer should magically change color before your eyes.

5) Repeat for the other layers!

If you do not have Photoshop:
I'm afraid I don't have other programs myself, but here are the bits and pieces so you can play with them!

Vectorized Digivice. This is the vectorized version of the original graphic I used, in three different formats so you can see what works with your program. Still has the colors of the original image.

Separated Art Pieces. This includes the lineart on its own, the monochrome shading/details on their own and at 100% opacity, and the lineart and shading combined, also monochrome.

Hopefully that's enough to get you started!

To add the pixel virtual pet Digimon to your Digivice:

Here are the Digimon graphics. Most Rookie-level partners are in this rar, but a handful never had a simple virtual pet version in this style. :( Also note that there aren't separate graphics for palette swap Digimon, since these don't have color. So, for example, Gabumon and Psychemon can both use the Gabumon graphic.

All you do with these is set the white areas to transparent, paste the graphic on top of your Digivice, then resize/rotate/skew it to fit the screen.

If anyone has any trouble with these resources, questions, suggestions or contributions (since I know I probably didn't do this terribly elegantly compared to someone who REALLY knows their way around a graphics editing program, ahaha), etc please don't hesitate to comment!

When you're done making your Digivice, resize it as desired and show it off in your character's journal or in this thread. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

How do you keep the transparency when resizing it?

I'd like to request one for Kaldur! His partner is Gizamon.

As for colors, I'd like to stick to the color scheme of his Aqualad costume:

Here

main body- reddish/orange
buttons- dark blue
circle- gold

Thanks for this! They look really good!

Oh gosh, I might take you up on this, but I've got two characters and I'm not entirely sure about colors. So I might get back to you?

I'd like to request one for Shinji! His partner is Kokuwamon, and the color scheme based on Shinji's plug suit

How's that? I can make the buttons/circle a little darker if you want, but I wasn't quite sure how dark you wanted it. (Click the image for full-size!)

Here's Liechtenstein's~

Also, if anyone else has a Digimon that doesn't have a virtual pet style sprite, but they want one for their Digivice, I'm willing to make one. (I don't think anyone else has a Hyokomon, but I can post the one I made for him if necessary.)
