Ah geez. Don't you say it. It sounds weird comin' from you. [ She laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head with her free hand and looking thoroughly chagrined. ]

Yeah I guess you did though, huh? Haha. Meanwhile here I am, as much a mess as ever. Shit. Sorry about runnin' into you like that.

It's fine. It's not like I bruised anything.

[ He takes the stuff from her and tosses them over his shoulder. ]

Are you feeling alright? You seem a little... jumpy?

[ He uses his freehand to push any hair out of her face as he peers in close. ]

Jumpy? Me? Nah! I'm just shocked is all! You know? I mean...you were gone...[ She trailed off, shrugging slightly and letting him take the bag, albeit uncomfortably. She'd wanted to help out of apology. ]

Anyways, you're not. You're here now and that's all that matters. You've been gone a while. A....long while, actually. I mean...in both ways. But you look good! Yeah. You seem alright.

How...well, how're things? Out there, I mean. Back...wherever.

You say I've been gone, but I don't really feel like I've left.

[ he removes his hand from her forehead. ]

[ She watched the hand drift away with much the same expression any smitten young girl would wear in the face of casual touch from any manner of personal idol. ]

Huh? Oh...Oh! Yeah...yeah you've been gone a while...

I thought I wouldn't see you again...

I guess its good you don't feel like any time passed. [ Nevermind that people were forced to mourn the loss of friends over and over in this place. Roze included. ]

Well I'm back now?

[ He gives her a curious look. It wasn't like her to be so shy about things. He gives her a light elbow nudge.]

So cheer up a little?

[ She frowned faintly, falling quiet for a moment before smiling faintly and offering a nod. What was the point in being upset about him being gone, now that he was back? Time had barely passed for him, he seemed to feel. So what if it was ages or minutes? ]

Yeah, you're back. I'm really glad you are...

I mean that.

Don't look so sad. Here... I'll treat you to something if you stop it.

[ Even now she somehow seemed to twist his insides a little. She was Roze no matter what age she was. ]

Oh! Haa, haha, nah. No no, you're just back n' all. I oughta be the one treatin' you! I'm not sad! I mean...how could I be sad? Squall's back! [ she chimed, pumping her fist in the air once for emphasis. ]

Why don't we get those bags off your hands and we can actually get you somethin' to eat, huh? Geez, how long have you been here? I...well, you coulda called, y'know?

Ah... well i noticed the older digimon looked like they needed help so I've been busying myself with that. I guess I put my focus on helping them that I forgot someone might still be here.

[ He lowers his head a little in apology. ]

Oh. Yeah. Well...I guess after a while you could assume everyone was gone anyways. I suppose there's only a couple people you'd really keep an eye out for, huh?

[ She offered a wan smile, shrugging lightly. ]

So, you probably need to get back to work though, huh? Yeah. Uh... [ Scratching her ear, Roze looked around absently, then reached in to grab her D-T, holding it up and brightening, now that she had an excuse. ] I was pretty busy anyways! Yeah, I should probably get back to things...and stuff.

So uh. I'll see you around then, yeah? Yeah...

[ He reached out to grab her arm before she could make her escape. ]

Hey. Roze.

[ She tensed, color rising to her ears even as it drained from her face. Still, she turned around, forcing a smile out like squeezing the last bit of toothpaste from the tube. ]

Yeah! Yeah, Squall, sup? Everything cool?

I could probably use a break if you don't mind accompanying me.

[ Well crap. ]

Hm, yeah sure! Anything, man. You know me. Always up for a good time, n'all. Sounds good.

I mean... unless you had something else to do?

[ he rubs the back of his head awkwardly as he glances at her. ]

Ehh...No. No, not really. All I was doin' was textin', anyways. So, uh...coffee? Tea? Whatever you want, man. S'on me.

[ She shifted her weight, gaze unreadable as she watched him. ]

...I could probably go for a hot meal or something like that.

[ Once upon a time she would have jumped on 'hot meal' as a euphemism. At the moment, she just smiled and nodded. ]

Let's get you somethin' to eat. Guy like you probably puts away a solid meal, and I could use a good bite myself. C'mon.

[ She waves a hand, nodding to one side and gesturing down the street. ]

Whatever you want, its on me. Don't even have to shuffle around the caf'.

Then I guess it's a date.

[ He glances over to her to see what kind of reaction she would give. He knows what she would normally say, but for some reason she just didn't seem like her self. Maybe she was ticked off at him for not coming to find her. He wouldn't doubt it. ]

[ Her cheeks colored, but she didn't really seem to have anything to say to it. She laughed quietly, but that was all. Although, she didn't look angry. She looked sad. Not even hurt by anything he did in particular. Just sad in general. Even with a smile on. ]

.... [ he sets the bags down and turns to face her fully with a hand on his hip. ]

Okay. Spill.

[ She might have denied it, played it all, anything. What would be the point? She hated lying, and she wasn't the best at keeping things. Besides, better to air it out anyways. ]

Its not like it was your fault...[ She started, folding her hands together behind her back and rocking on her heels. ]

Its no one's fault, really. Its just the way things are.

I'm just a little sad. You're not the first one, and you won't be the last.

It just...it bothers me. Being forgotten so easily because of this place. People coming and going. I'm scared to leave because I don't want to forget everything. I made promises. I don't want to break them - even if everyone else is perfectly fine with it.

I think... that is a feeling everyone else feels as well...No one likes to break a promise and even if they seem alright Im sure they are worried just like you. Some people are just better at hiding it then others are.

[ She stood there, staring and quiet, brows straining not to pinch close together. She tried not to act stupid or look foolish. In the end she failed, sobbing audibly and gasping for a breath as she fell against him in a real hug, fingers digging into back. She clung to him hard, shoulders shaking while she hid her face against his neck. ]
