[ Awkward stare. Something about this tiny little pink haired monster seemed familiar. And her digimon seemed even more so. He quietly walked toward them observing them for now. ]

I beg your pardon? [ Musashi looked over his shoulder before huffing a soft sigh. ] No. That is Lord Squall.

*gasp* Is he a STORM LORD? Like a REAL dragon!?

HEY MISTER ARE YOU A REAL TIANLONG DRAGON? The little girl cried excitedly, running away from Musashi and towards Squall. After all, he wasn't a stranger to worry about if Mr. Dragon knew him. Musashi, for his part, shuffled sideways, gave Squall a double thumbs-up, then hurried down the next alley. Have fun babysitting the little girl now wrapped around your leg and little up at you with mystified sparkling green eyes. ]

[ He tenses up when she latches onto his leg. He can't really bring himself to knock her off though. She was giving him those warm bright eyes and he couldn't really fight that. ]

Yeah... I guess so?

[ He gives Musashi an awkward look. ]

[ Nope. Musashi is GONE pal. Someone trustworthy shows up, he's outies. He's been stuck with the kid all day. Roze is hard enough to deal with as an adult. Musashi ain't ready for kids. He's too young. Yeah, that's it. ]

Really? Really really? Cuz mama said they don't come down from the mountains *hic* and that they're really big an' old *hic* but you're not old, you're pretty! *hic* But I always thought they'd be pretty cuz *hic* they're all rainbowwy and sparkly like in the *hic* book mama gave me with all kindsa dragons in it. CAN YOU MAKE SNOW?

[ So excited she gave herself hiccups. Yeah...she'll live this down...in a few decades. ]

You really must like dragons, huh. Yeah... I could make snow happen before I came here.... but my powers are limited.

[ He's not exactly lying. With Shiva's power he would be able to make snow. ]

[ She weighs less than some Moogles, Squall. She's not exactly an impediment, so she'll just go along for the ride. dragons can carry anything, right? ]

I love dragons! *hic* I wanna be one when I grow up!

[ Not entirely impossible. Heck, even possibly a success, if being a 'dragonlady" counted. ]

So...you came here n' all yer powers got took away? *hic* That's sad. Are you gonna be okay? Cuz mama says a lotta bad people hunt dragons *hic* all the time n' that why the weather is all funny.

[ She inhaled deeply, gasping and closing her mouth tight to hold her breath in order to stave off the hiccups plaguing her speech. Pink curls in Pink ribbons bounced as hiccups tried to escape her tiny frame. ]

Well... I have brave little warriors like you to protect me, Right Roze?

[ It finally registered to him what must have happened. Somehow the girl he knew shrunk and Musashi ditched him with her. What a jerk. ]

[ Her eyes could have fallen out of her head by that point. She let go of his leg and slid down until she was laying on the ground staring up. ]

But...I'm just...[ A little girl? Too small? Too young? Anything her mother might have said about anything she would have tried to do that Sakura didn't approve of? ]

I'm sorry Lord Squall...[ She sat up, hunched there, hands bunching in the skirt of her dress. ] I'm too little...I'm not strong enough to take care of anybody.

Hmm...

[ He bent down on his knee in front of her. ]

Too approach a dragon with such joy in your eyes? With no fear? That seems pretty brave to me... Yes I deem you worthy.

[ What is he doing. He doesn't even know. He reaches out and lifts her up as he slowly stands up himself. ]

[ Enjoy the infectious, squealing giggles of delight. Roze's laugh, before the years of aggression, bitterness and secrets turned it into something less crystalline and more predatory. ]

Why should anyone be scared of a dragon? Dragons are magic n' special! Silly. [ she laughed again, bare feet dangling. Under the frilly white dress was all the evidence of the Roze of the future - dirty feet and skinned knees in defiance of the cute clothing. Someday, this child would be beating up boys twice her size. ]

Dragons're super special n' beautiful n' awesome n' they kin fly n' breath fire n' ice n' make it rain n' the BEST stories have dragons!

I love you, Lord Squall! You're the best dragon ever cuz yer my dragon! Mama was wroooooong. Cuz, I told her I'd find one someday n' I did! N' he's the best!

[ He flushes slightly. He's not used to getting such positive reactions from children. Not only that, but she just has so much energy in her. He awkwardly shifts her around so he could hold her at his side for now. ]

What will you do now that you've found a dragon?

Um. I dunno? [ she replied honestly, dangling where he held her without any complaint. At least she wasn't a particularly squirmy child. She was, in fact, fairly precocious. ]

We could go on adventures? Or we could go flyin' like Falcor? Or um...we could go find treasure or save a princess! Or we can go somewhere where theres no rain n' we could make it rain n' people would be like "Oh oh thank you thank you cuz we had no rain but now we do!" n' then we can fly off into the night n' you can be like..."HO HOOO YES YOU ARE WELCOME! FOR THE RAIN! THAT I GAVE YOU!"

You certainly have a lot of ideas, huh.

[ He ruffled up her hair not really minding it if bothered her or not. ]

How about we get you something to eat first.

[ She didn't mind in the least. This was not the woman of vice and vanity that Squall was familiar with. This was the little girl underneath it all. Sweet and lonely and full of ideas. ]

Well yea~h aren't you? Yer a dra~gon yer supposed t'be super old n' wise n' have all kindsa thoughts n' stuff about everything! What do you wanna d--EAT? Ooo yay! Can we have burgers n' fries n' soda? Mama won't let me. She says I'll get fat n' nobody likes fat girls.

[ She pouted marvelously, complete with chipmunk cheeks, goldfish lips and puppy-dog eyes. Small wonder that years later Roze ate food like it was goin' out of style. ]

Ah... I think they are serving such food in the cafeteria today. We can go there and you can eat until your heart is content. Does that sound like a good plan?

That sounds like the BEST PLAN EVER! [ she squealed, kicking excitedly and squirming in an attempt to hug him. When she couldn't really manage she gave up and tilted her head against him instead. ]

Mama can't get mad, cuz a dragon said it was okay.

Exactly. And dragons trump mothers or something like that.

[ He shifts her a little and moves her up higher. ]

They definitely gotta! Mama's big n' all but she's not a dragon! Dragons are so much more the bosses okay? So you'll tell 'er that you said it was okay to eat burgers n' be fat?

I'll tell her to treat my protector with more kindness...

Yeah? You better watch out though cuz she kin get real mean n' yell a lot. N' break things. N' then she'll cry n' make you feel bad.

[ She sighed, pouting quietly to herself and resting her head against him, dangling under his arm. ]

Lord Squall, are you a Wish Dragon? Kin you grant wishes?

If anything I think I'm more of a runt.

Really? [ She thought about it for a long time before eventually shrugging and swinging her legs until she could grab her own ankles, dangling in an odd loop from under Squall's arm. ]

That's okay. So am I. Tetsu says runts grow up to be the biggest and best of all. They just start off really small, so people throw 'em out. He says that's why mama says like she does...cuz I'm runty n' all. So I'll get bigger than her some day...then she'll see.

You will too. You'll grow up real big, n' other dragons'll be nice to you. Don't worry! [ Roze chimed, reaching out and patting his side reassuringly. ]

You think so? How sure are you of that.

[ He shifted her around until he got her on top of his shoulders now. ]

But why would you do that? [ She asked, leaning to rest her chin on top of his head while her hands wrapped around against his chin. ]

If you're a good dragon, you shouldn't be mean to the other dragons. Only bad-guys are mean.

Maybe Im just a bad dragon. With a bad attitude.
